Have you ever been pulled into the worry and fret over your competitors?

It’s easy to do. Especially on those days where things may not be happening as fast as you’d like.

Or, even on those days where you may be feeling especially vulnerable.

Maybe your market is a bit saturated with practitioners who do the same thing you do.

Or maybe you’re on social media and seeing one too many posts on the competition.

Either way, it can leave you feeling worried that you’re not doing enough.

But here’s the thing. Saturated or not, the bottom line is there is plenty of room for those seeking opportunity, to stand at the top.

Here’s what you need to know.

Your Competitors are running their own race

One of the worst things you can do when you’re worried about your competitors is focus on them and what they’re doing.

You were meant to run your own race. You have your own unique practice. It’s based upon your personal touches, not your competitors. People are going to gravitate to your practice based upon who you are as an individual. How you present yourself and how you show up in the world.

Your Competitors Are Consistent

When growing your private practice, consistency is key. This is a long game, not a short sprint.

Your competitors recognize this and they’re spending each and every day focusing on those things that get the dial to move, and so should you.

There’s no reason to run yourself ragged and burn yourself out before you’ve even reached your first milestone.

Just focus on three things each day that will move you closer to that milestone/goal.

Your Competitors Aren’t Afraid to Pivot.

I feel like this is every bit as important as the need to be consistent. Here’s why.

We can become so complacent in our consistent actions that we haven’t taken the time to measure our results to see if they’re working.

Here’s where that definition of insanity comes in to play. (Doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results)

Your competitors are may be taking the time to measure the success of their efforts and making adjustments if that needle isn’t moving them forward.

So, before you embark on your plan for growth, make sure there is a way for you to measure whether or not it’s working.

And what will that look like? Increased phone calls, metric reports, more dollars, more clients, etc.

But, be careful here. Your 3 actions a day may not be measure in an increase of clients right away.

Remember, you’re building an audience and it simply takes time for them to know you enough to make purchasing decisions. Look at all of the ways to measure your success with more clients being the end game milestone.

Keep Focusing On The Positive

We all know that being in business for yourself is not for the faint of heart. Owning your own private practice is no different.

But what happens when we allow the fear of the competition to consume us, is we start taking on negative vibes.

Worse than that, we begin to internalize them and even send them out into the world.

We begin to take on negative speech patterns, a negative disposition and even negative body language.

You may not think anyone can detect it, but they can. You can actually begin to repel the very thing you are trying to attract.

Do those things that bring you joy during these times. Dance, exercise, sing, and visit with friends.

Surround yourself with positive people who believe in you. It will make all the difference in the world.

At the end of the day, growing your private practice can be one of the most challenging yet rewarding times of your life.

Just remember that this is a journey and YOURS to enjoy!
